The Zodiac sign of Libra, which begins on the Autumnal Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere is a cardinal, air element sign concerned with initiating thoughts and ideas. It’s ruling planet is Venus, in its “night” or second sign of rulership, focused on relatedness and refinement. This is an “evening star” Venus expression now, different than Venus in Taurus’s love for self and self-oriented resources. Now, we are experiencing life through the dance of compromise found in dealing with others.
Those born with strong Libra in their chart can be excellent mediators, counselors, lawyers and artists of all kinds, utilizing a delicate and innate ability to use harmony, beauty and balance of form in any work or arts they employ.
I have heard the sign of Libra called “a polite Aries.” Though deeply concerned with peace and harmony and getting along, most with Libra prominent HATE to see the brutality, ugliness and unfairness of life. Libra’s then can be quite fierce ideological fighters, debaters and justice seekers, using a martial energy pointed towards peace or whatever they see as fair or equitable.
My own natal chart includes Mars in Libra (this is Mars in its detriment, due to the opposition to the natural placement) and a Libra Midheaven. This means that the sign Libra governs over the very top of my chart, the tip of that cross in the chart wheel, as well as the style or expression of what I want to “fight for” (Mars).
Whenever Mars returns to its natal place and/or the Sun by transit moves through the top of your chart you often feel energetic, ready to take on goals and achieve.
Look where Mars and Sun are transiting now in your own natal chart. Is it the 2nd house of earned income and resources? The 8th of those resources and other things you share or are given to you by others? You’re fired up here now!
In the chart of 2021's Autumnal Equinox, Mercury in Libra squares Pluto in Capricorn and opposes the Moon and Eris closely. Themes of depth arise in the collective, or mental obsessions, of positive and negative forms may persist into the first week of October.
Fortunately, we also have Jupiter assisting Mercury by trine. We can make huge inroads on our projects and relationships IF we think expansively now- and don’t burn any bridges by unmasking some of the “harsh truths” of our ever changing feelings.
Mercury will be in Libra until November 6th and will retrograde in Libra for 3 weeks beginning September 26th, giving us an opportunity to learn more and reflect on how we personally relate, communicate and mediate.
As the light of the Sun shines on the themes of Libra for the next 30 days or so, may the rays of awareness assist you on your journey to wholeness.
