Lunar Eclipse in Virgo 3/3/2026 3:33 am pst

As the Earth in her beautiful turning, shadows the reflected light of the Sun on our night goddess Moon, a lunar eclipse is experienced. Our March 3 event is a total eclipse, called a “Blood Moon” as the darkening Moon becomes reddish in appearance.

The Eclipse happens at 12 degrees and 53 minutes of Virgo, the Zodiac sign of discernment, crafting and tooling. Its own archetypal "shadow" being critical fault finding, intolerance, and inability to see beyond the imperfections.

Virgo’s ruler is Mercury, which is currently retrograde, and “fallen” in Pisces. It joins Sun, Venus, Mars and our North Node.

Pisces power is transcendent compassion and flow, with its shadow confusion, victimhood or martyrdom.

2026’s first eclipse season happens within the powerful Saturn, Neptune conjunction in Aries (reality of the 'Fog of War') and the Mars, Uranus square time period. This quality of time is revolutionary, bringing endings and new beginnings collectively.

I am reminded of a quote from the famous poem “The Second Coming” by William Butler Yates..

There is a great spiritual vibration with from these numbers. The entire date is 3/3/2026, a numerological 7, number of spiritual seeking and discernment, while the 3 is a sacred number in many traditions, especially the European ancient Celtic one, where 3, 3s are connected to the patterns of birth, death, rebirth; land, sea sky and the Goddesses triple fold nature of Maiden, Mother, Crone.

3, 3’s is also 9, a number of completions. The Musician Kate Bush has a 9th wave collection of songs on her masterpiece album Hounds of Love. The entire second half of the album is a conceptual suite of death by drowning, spiritual awakening and joyous re-birth. Perhaps an inspiring soundtrack to this eclipse?
