The New Moon in heart-centered Leo is well-aspected by a helpful and creative sextile by Jupiter and Mars, signifying new ways to move forward. This is especially welcome after the drama of last month’s anaretic Full Capricorn Moon conjoined Pluto, just after a Mars/Uranus meeting. The intensity, drama, and endings of the last period of time are now giving way to the inevitable new beginning energy of a New Moon. All is change.
Typically, New Moons involve introspection. From an energetic standpoint, it is a period for sowing seeds, symbolizing the concept that when the Moon is not visible, hidden by the Sun, we turn inward to evaluate, contemplate, and establish a deliberate path for the future. Whether we are aware of it or not, our physical and internal beings naturally align with the rhythms of nature. During the Moon's darkness, we are presented with a chance to delve into our innermost selves.
It is interesting that Venus is currently positioned at 29 degrees of Leo, about to transition to Virgo the following day. Simultaneously, Mercury is preparing to retrograde in Virgo. These two planets will come together on the 7th while still in the New Moon phase.
Mercury and Venus rarely form aspects with each other because of their proximity to the Sun, so they can only come together in a conjunction or sextile. This alignment creates a feeling of promise regarding their individual significances.
How our thoughts influence our feelings of contentment and joy is a key consideration. How can we increase our awareness of our desires and shift our mindset in that direction? For instance, maintaining a positive outlook on our interactions with others can actually cultivate positive relationships!
The Sabian Symbol for the New Moon is “An Old Sea Captain Rocking in His Chair” according to James Burgess this is defined as
“PEACEFUL CONTEMPLATION”
The lessons and messages of life are complex, and we gain much from reflection and assimilation. In time, the child's innocence and the adult's sophistication give way to the peaceful realty of old age, a period to contemplate our personal history and the ups and downs that punctuate all life journeys.
During this month, Mercury will be in retrograde until the 28th, and Jupiter will be in its first quarter square to Saturn on 8/19, accompanied by an intense Full Moon. Jupiter and Saturn are the planets associated with social constructs and were conjunct on 12/21/2020. Anything initiated at that time will now reach a point of "crisis in consciousness," prompting us to create a plan to take action. Where do you think you need to take action?
There are some BIG themes in the Zeitgeist, there are some unusual and important aspects coming at us, but for this moment- it is time to hope and dream and chart our course.
People have the Power, You have the Power. Set your intentions this New Moon. Contemplate where you are- and how your reactions and actions have been working for you.
Reflect on and review your activities, then take some time to rest. Prepare yourself for a busy autumn ahead- after 8/28 it's appropriate to get out there and work!
