The energy of Sagittarius is like a bright light in the darkness.
Situated in the time of the most limited sunlight in the Northern Hemisphere, its season includes celebrations galore as Sag’s ruler is none other than Jupiter, the jubilant, largest planet in the solar system.
Long associated as a principle or archetypal force of expansion, Jupiter is known as the ancient “greater benefic” denoting luck and joy, hope and justice. Its transits are known too, for their expanding and enlarging qualities, bringing opportunities to the areas of a chart it visits.
Where you find Sagittarius and Jupiter in your chart by birth or transit you may be expansive and optimistic. The sign’s mode of expression is mutable, or adaptable and like the Archer symbol of the sign, Sagittarius’ planets and its house position can show where you will find yourself regularly gazing at the horizon, chasing mysteries, and setting your sights on ever new adventures.
Philosophy and religion, foreign travel and cultures, mind expansion, higher learning, publishing, legal affairs, and courts, these are some of the arenas of life given to Astrological Sagittarius. Within the archetype there lies a process of blending ideas or information into beliefs systems, data into theory and hypothesis. A shadow or flipside of this energy can be “knowing it all” or settling into unshakable faith or belief in something- which can be managed with a little self awareness and contemplation.
Now, our Sun and Moon conjoin in 9th degree of the first decan (organization of 10 degrees of a sign) of Sagittarius. The first decan of this sign is ruled by Mercury, which is also currently retrograde in Sag.
Saturn in Pisces squares the Sun and New Moon, Mars in Leo- (soon to retrograde) Trines the lunation event, Pluto Sextiles, and loosely, Jupiter itself opposes from its Retrograde in Gemini. These aspects could reflect our minds and faith being lately shaken, with ideas and events still “up in the air”- and we may feel as if we are swimming against the tide.
Do note that mutable signs like Sagittarius offer us options through an ability to find a bright light in any darkness.
Taking the idea of allowing more time for all the details to come out of a situation before we come to any conclusions, knowing that there are LOTS of changes in process, is the best course.
So, stay positive friends, be flexible and allow for the cycles and processes to fully reveal themselves. The Journey is all.
The Sabian symbol for the New Moon degree is:
“A THEATRICAL REPRESENTATION OF A GOLDEN-HAIRED GODDESS OF OPPORTUNITY”
This symbol can be read as “Distinguishing reality from theatre. Feeling that the ‘world is your stage’. Playing out a story. Acting out impulses. Dramatizations. Opportunities that seem too good to resist. Also, as Propaganda. Constantly chasing ‘things’ that come to nothing. Judging people by their looks. False appearances. False opportunities.*
Look for the light. Turn on the light. Endure and Believe in Magick.
New Moon Wishes for Sunnier Days ahead.
Love,
Michelle
