“Digging in the Dirt”
“Something in me, dark and sticky All the time it's getting strong No way of dealing with this feeling Can't go on like this too long”
Peter Gabriel
Zodiacal Scorpio offers deep and resourceful gifts, intuitive perception, the desire or will to transform and re-generate ourselves after loss, the power to look our fears in the face and “live through this.” Now, at our annual New Moon in Scorpio, we find ourselves challenged a little more than usual, as the Sun and Moon form a close conjunction with Mars and Ceres and an opposition to "out of the blue" Uranus.
This “combustive” combination highlights the arenas of life that bring up our vulnerability , as we may be handling crises, dealing with what we have resisted, facing interior or exterior “trials” to overcome, along with hurt or angry feelings to address or navigate through. Mars and Uranus opposing each other can make “eruptions” likely, as well as the potential for accidents or other sudden events we have to manage.
While the dark moon of our inner fears and negative self-esteem or mind-set may challenge, we also could get to the heart of a matter, and potentially find healing and strength in investigating it. Purging our negative mind, we can use the Scorpio/Taurus Axis to balance stability in change with new insights around our dilemmas.
The Sabian Symbol for the Sun/Moon gives an image for your consideration.
Scorpio 21: OBEYING THEIR CONSCIENCE, A SOLDIER RESISTS ORDERS
"This is a degree of not wanting to comply with convention – not wanting to go along with the mainstream or continue doing something that no longer serves you. It can be a matter of observing where you don’t feel right about continuing some activity, job or relationship as it may compromise what it is that you truly want.
Keyword: Personal morality. Doing what one’s conscience dictates. Longing for a return to a state of love and innocence. Love that restrains. Not following orders. .
The Caution: Cowardice or lack of courage to act. Not doing what is expected. ‘Going over the top’ in a wild and crazy way. Freezing and confining emotions. * Lynda Hill’s Sabian Symbol.com
The Sabian symbol adds to the idea of a “martial” aspect of this time- and perhaps illuminates the need for personal insight it requires. One of the best aspects of this lunation is a helpful trine from Neptune in Pisces, which can dissolve anger and wrath with compassion, provide transcendence to a nihilistic world view or inspiration from the “muses” to the artists.
This time is also potent for practicing Magick, for Wishing and Devotion to the Gods and Goddesses of the night and shadow.
Tonight or tomorrow Make a list of what you wish to manifest in the next year, write it by candlelight in the dark for the most potent experience.
Remember too, the dark is necessary and fertile with its own blessings. May they be upon you.
