Solar Eclipse in Aries 3/29/25 3:58 AM PDT

Physically, a Solar Eclipse happens when the Moon’s orbit around the Earth blocks the rays of the Sun and casts a shadow on Earth. This Friday's event is a very deep partial eclipse, with 93% of the Sun hidden behind our Moon- currently near it's perigree, making this a Supermoon Eclipse!

Astrologically, we look for meaning and psychic resonance within the phenomena of nature’s cosmic cycles and their relationship with our life on earth. Myth and history play a part in how we interpret and experience phenomena. In Egyptian mythology, the Sun/Ra traveled across the sky every day and entered the underworld at night when his light disappeared.

This journey is linked to myth’s “Hero’s journey” in which an archetypal Hero/God battled dragons/enemies representing the night, shadow, or underworld.

In the stories, there is always a struggle- as the demon/shadow attempts to chain the Hero to the underworld of darkness, and a victory when he/she is re-born or resurrected in the dawn. The mythology of the astronomy of a Solar Eclipse has the Sun/God being eaten by the shapeshifting monster Moon, long associated with night and earth form.

With a Solar Eclipse the light/spirit is eaten by shadow, we experience unconscious elements of depth and intuition, feeling and form arise and can create something new in our consciousness. This is an alchemical process, leading us through a gateway, a door opening and closing, as the Yin and Yang or Male/Female conjoin, unite, and separate. Observe what may arise, there may be a transformation for you.

As the Sun was associated with the archetypal Father principle and its light of awareness, the Moon was Mother and instinct/intuition. The Earth and all its inhabitants are the Children (us!) in which these factors play.

With the Moon especially close to the Earth in this eclipse, we may experience high tides and deep themes of emotion or gut responses to life, there may be a sense also of reflection and defense. We may feel as if we have to battle our way, or feel defenseless in a situation.

This is the last of the Aries eclipses till 2032, and we can reflect on what has changed in the last 6, even 18 months. This eclipse can also be a  preparation for Aries themes of radical authenticity, action and pioneering, which  will be emphasized by Neptune moving to 0 Aries within 24 hours or the event, and Saturn joining in May.

This is a “wake up” moment. The Fool of the Tarot. A New cycle, new journey.

Our eclipse has the Sun and Moon conjoined at 9 Aries and Mercury at 0 Aries.

There are aspects via sextile to the event by both Pluto and Jupiter, also emphasizing the ending and new beginning quality of the “Re-boot” like flavor of the time.

Mercury and Venus are also both still in their Retrograde journey. Interestingly, the degree of the Eclipse is that of Mercury’s station, with Venus’s just 1 degree away. What "Aha!" moments have you had recently?

Within a few days of  our Eclipse, Saturn, Venus, Mercury, and the lunar nodes form a stellium at the end of Pisces.  Mars in Cancer makes a trine to this, and Uranus in Taurus forms a sextile.

April 1st, a Moon-Uranus conjunction activates the dreamy constellation and  a trine of Mars and Saturn and the sextile with Uranus will be exact on April 5. What a time to be alive- everything will be moving fast, fast faster especially after Mercury and Venus are direct the 7th and 12th.

What a time to be alive!
