New Moon in Virgo September 6th, 2021, 5:52pm PDT

Discrimination!

Sabian Symbol for the Sun and Moon:

A FINE LACE HANDKERCHIEF, HEIRLOOM FROM VALOROUS ANCESTORS.

KEYNOTE: The quintessence of deeds well done.

A New Moon is always the start of the 28-day Lunar Cycle. This is a conception point for the archetypal expression of the sign, as well as any energetic aspects of the event. With Virgo, there is a theme of sorting through things, learning to discriminate between what is “healthy” for us, what kinds of thoughts, activities and “deeds” we need focus our attention on for best results.

This New Moon features a very close Trine aspect to Uranus in Taurus, both at 14 degrees, which is an entrenchment in each of the sign’s issues- with Virgo and Taurus we need to get “down to earth” and grounded about our life- manifest reality is key here. No pie in the sky now.

This entire year we’ve been dealing with the Saturn/Uranus square- collective friction, with triggering thoughts, emotions and actions that bring up the clash between security and freedom.

Many folks are choosing to ally with what they consider to be tried and true, even the “devil we know” for what is perceived by some as an unknown new order.

This new order, as symbolized by the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in Aquarius involves Individuals and structures that foundationally involve new ideas, new technologies and more- all working for the collective good of all, rather than just specific groups.

This lunation may bring some sudden information (Uranus) or insight that brings us the ability to critically discriminate between varying factors and ascertain the ACTUAL “facts” of a situation.

However, Neptune is opposing in Pisces. There is still an “unreal” or “what is real” quality to the time, inhibiting the ability for clear sight. Subjectivity is rampant, primarily because of chosen belief systems. The Moon in Virgo approaches Mars, opposing Neptune and trine Pluto. There is a potential martial qualitues to how we defend our beliefs, and with Venus in Libra aspecting Eris (asteroid goddess of discord)- and just coming out of a square to Pluto- we don’t always want to get along. So, what to do now?

Our North Node in Gemini points the way- Gemini is a data sign and wants to know details. Both Gemini and Virgo are ruled by Mercury, which rules the mind, thinking and communicating. Taking the time to focus on comparing and contrasting data, attempting to discriminate and being grounded will help us to do the work of this new moon, as we sort through facts, vs beliefs, and get ourselves organized.

Focus on this practice, getting grounded, thinking critically and moving forward in your intentions and you will be employing this energy to its best use- as always look to where 14 degrees of Virgo falls in your chart- make plans or wishes in this arena/place of life!

Here’s a 3-minute New Moon Ritual written by Dana Gerhardt from www.mooncircles.com

Become aware of your body. Notice how gravity holds and connects you to earth. It’s as though your body is an ancient stone temple—solid, strong, secure. Sanctify this temple. Imagine a priestess is pouring sacred water and scattering rose petals, all the way down, from your head to your toes. Any anxiety or negativity washes away. Notice the thoughts and feelings leaving the temple—your judgments, your distracted mind, your worried heart. Be sure to honor them. Give each a smile and a piece of cake as it departs.

Visualize a ring of fragrant flowers surrounding you, protecting you. Know that you are safe and relaxed. Breathe deeply. Feel the power of the Sun and Moon pouring into your circle. The energy of Virgo is gathering in your circle. It is discriminating, organized, and productive. Unafraid of work, Virgo breaks down big tasks into smaller more manageable steps. She is a healer. With a quiet dignity, she brings order out of chaos. Virgo is the archetypal Maiden, grounded in earth’s power, running free with elemental forces. Continue absorbing her energy as you read Virgo’s affirmations.

I know my strength. I serve. I joy in the perfection of the moment. My body is my sacred temple.

Your intentions for this cycle are gathering. You may already know what you wish to accomplish. Or you may not. Trust that all will unfold perfectly in time. Know that this brief ritual has aligned you with spirit. Now ask your heart if it has a closing message for you. This may come in words or as a picture, perhaps as a body sensation or sound. Give yourself time to receive this message. Digest it. Write it down. Then, in gratitude to yourself and spirit, return to normal awareness. Place a symbol of your Virgo New Moon message on your altar
